Mission Statement:
"The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness".
Aims/Objectives:
To help translate the words of the Object into everyday goals for the Company, the following are set down as our Aims:
- to help Boys to feel part of the Church family, to share in their Christian nurture through a programme of Christian Education and the example of their leaders, and to challenge them to a personal commitment to Christ
- to create in Companies a caring environment in a changing society
- to foster a trusting, friendly relationship between leaders and Boys
- to help Boys develop both as individuals and as members of a group
- to help Boys to develop a sense of responsibility towards family, friends and society
- to help Boys to live by Christian values in a secular society
- to develop their leadership potential in the Brigade and in society
Age Range:
Anchor Boys 5 - 8 years
Junior Section 8 - 11 years
Company Section 11 - 14 years
Seniors 14 - 19 years
Older Seniors are encouraged to attend KGVI courses specifically designed to produce young Officers to serve the Brigade now and in the future.
Special Interests:
Anchor Boys: The development of awareness of others is encouraged using games, stories, music and simple crafts.
Junior Section: An award scheme using over 200 activities based upon the areas of adventure, community, interests, physical and spiritual sections. The programme develops teamwork using physical activities, team games, crafts, stories and music.
Company Section: The programme offers activities based around the same five sections, but more advanced than juniors and also includes leadership.
Seniors: Active leadership and participation in the BB and the local Church together with work in the local community is encouraged through the D of E Award Scheme and our own Queen's Badge Award.
Other Relevant Information:
The Battalion at present is comprised of Companies in Chelmsford (3), Billericay, Bishop's Stortford, Broomfield, Great Leighs, Harlow, South Woodham Ferrers, and Witham.
