The Alliance is the largest voluntary sector provider of childcare and the fourth largest provider of childcare in England. Through our members and direct management of pre-schools and nurseries, sessional pre-school and baby and toddler groups, the Alliance supports over 800,000 children and their families.
What do we offer in Essex?
Pre-school Development Officers - The team have a wide and diverse remit, which includes visiting settings for targeted support relating to:
Welfare requirements linked to Early Years Foundation Stage.
Business Support - Business plans, cash flow, marketing.
Grant applications.
Legal status - Committee support, community interest company, incorporation, charitable incorporated organisation, co-operative, sole trader.
Mediation.
Ofsted feedback.
Supporting settings with sustainability issues.
Linked with ECC early years quality team.
Créche Development Officer - Visits créches to engage with them on the quality agenda and encourage them to put themselves on the voluntary register. The CDO also attends or inputs on the following:-
Visits Children's Centres to support the development and quality of their créches.
Building and monitoring a database of créches.
Linked with ECC early years quality team.
Encourages créches to register onto the Voluntary Childcare Register.
Baby and Toddler Development Officers: The team visit Baby and Toddler/stay and play sessions, encouraging them not only to think about the safety of the children and adults attending but also the quality of the service they are offering. The BTDOs are pro-active in ensuring the Family Information Service database is kept current and accurate. Other duties include:-
Visit Children's Centres to support the development and quality of their stay and play sessions.
Family Learning sessions.
In addition to the above we are also the Lead and Employing body for three phase 2 Children's Centres and we directly manage two of the nurseries linked to phase one Children's Centres.
